Timequip integrates with ChatGPT as an app built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once connected, ChatGPT can browse your projects, create and update tasks, post comments, and render interactive Timequip widgets — a task list, a task detail card, and a dashboard — directly inside the conversation.
Requirements
- A Timequip account with at least one project. See Creating Your First Account.
- A ChatGPT plan with connector support and Developer mode enabled (Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings).
Connect the Timequip app
- In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors.
- Enable Developer mode under Advanced settings if it is not already on.
- Click Create to add a new connector.
- Enter the name Timequip and the MCP server URL: https://mcp.timequip.com/mcp
- Choose OAuth authentication and save. You are redirected to the Timequip sign-in page.
- Sign in, pick the account this connection should use, and approve the requested permissions. Each connection is bound to exactly one Timequip account.
Interactive widgets
Unlike a plain text reply, Timequip responses in ChatGPT can open as live widgets that work on both web and mobile.
- Task list: asking for tasks in a project opens a browsable list with task keys, titles, statuses, and tags.
- Task detail: a single task opens as a card with its description, status, assignee, comments, and time logs.
- Dashboard: a workspace overview shows active projects with progress, urgent deadlines, and your open tasks.
Example prompts
- "Show me all tasks in the DEMO project."
- "Create a task in DEMO titled Review privacy policy with high priority."
- "Find tasks in DEMO that mention authentication and summarize them."
- "Invite [email protected] to the account and make him an editor on the DEMO project."
- "What is on my plate this week? Show my dashboard."
Permissions and safety
Every action runs under your own Timequip user, so account and project roles still apply — ChatGPT can never do more than you can. For details, see Account Roles and Project Roles. Read access and each type of write access (tasks, comments, projects, members) are separate OAuth scopes, and ChatGPT asks for confirmation before write actions. To revoke access, remove the connector in ChatGPT settings; the grant is invalidated immediately.
Troubleshooting
- If a tool reports a missing permission, reconnect and grant the required scope on the consent screen.
- If widgets do not render, make sure Developer mode is enabled and the connector is toggled on for the current chat.
